Congratulations on your engagement!

Required Documents for Marriage
  • Baptismal Certificate: Must be a recent copy issued within the last 6 months.
  • Confirmation Certificate.
  • Pre-Cana Classes: You must attend these marriage preparation sessions and provide the certificate of completion.
  • Witnesses: 2 witnesses are required per person.
  • Civil Marriage License or Certificate: You must provide either an Illinois State Marriage License or a Civil Marriage Certificate. The license is obtained through local government offices (County Clerk) and allows the religious ceremony to be legally recognized by the state. The license can only be obtained within 60 days of the wedding date. Post-Wedding: After the ceremony, you must request your official civil certificate from the same government office where you applied for the license. The Church does not provide the civil certificate.
